Biological Information

Background Information:

Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is one of the leading causes of drug attrition during development and post-marketing drug withdrawal. Mice are commonly used in in vivo toxicology and pharmacokinetic (PK) studies. Primary mouse hepatocytes are considered a relevant in vitro model for evaluating drug-induced hepatotoxicity because, under appropriate culture conditions, they retain many hepatocyte-specific functions, including the expression and activity of Phase I and Phase II drug-metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters.Eurofins performs hepatocyte cell viability assays using cryopreserved, plateable primary mouse hepatocytes. Cell viability is assessed using the CellTiter-Glo® assay (Promega) or other appropriate viability reagents, depending on study requirements.
