Biological Information

Background Information:

Neuropeptide FF receptor family is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily containing two subtypes, NPFF1 and NPFF2. NPFF1 is broadly distributed in the central nervous system, NPFF2 is present in high density in spinal cord. NPFF receptors and their endogenous ligand are responsible for hormonal modulation, food intake, thermoregulation and nociception through modulation of the opioid system where it has pro-nociceptive effects, primarily through the NPFF1, and anti-nociceptive effects, primarily through the NPFF2. Selective agonists or antagonists for NPFF receptors may be explored as novel treatments for relevant human disorders, such as neuropathic pain.

cAMP Hunter™ Gi cell lines overexpress naturally Gi coupled, wild type GPCRs and are designed to detect inhibition of intracellular cAMP production in response to agonist stimulation of the receptor. These cell lines are designed to be used in conjunction with the HitHunter® cAMP Assay Detection Kit.
