Eurofins Scientific has initiated significant action on environmental sustainability programs featuring their pledge to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025. Already, many of the 900+ Eurofins laboratories have been actively reducing their carbon footprint in actions delivering impressive cumulative impact – including at the global operations of Eurofins Discovery and Eurofins DiscoverX®.
Actions like: Paper-free labs and offices. Power savings via Green Building, and alternative energy technologies. Installing energy-efficient LED lighting. Widespread recycling. Significant increase in alternative work scheduling, carpooling, and virtual offices. Converting business travel to virtual conferencing.
At the grassroots level, thousands of our scientists and professional team members have advanced sustainability contributions in countless and creative ways, like workplace-sponsored tree plantings and gardening clubs donating their harvests to feed the hungry.
We’re proud to note that Eurofins sustainability team efforts go beyond birds, bees, and trees. Our efforts on enhancing our corporate and social responsibility continues to pay off, with higher workplace desirability ratings and awards, savings in operations, and increased employee and customer satisfaction.

At Eurofins Discovery, we embed progressive social responsibility goals directly into company operations. Our efforts — large and small, global and local — keep evolving. At our St. Charles offices, our teams run more than a dozen active programs aimed at improving health, community strength, and the environment. Team members fundraise for cancer research annually via walkathons and bring in donations from thousands of local organizations directly, and get dollars into the hands of neighbors in need. There’s even community outreach for local animal shelters.
Eurofins Discovery team-members have long given their time, expertise, and financial encouragement to educational outreach programs. Our Northern California team-members personally buy and fill colorful new backpacks with fresh educational supplies for local school children by via the Family Giving Tree, a charity that has served over 2 million.
Our team at Eurofins DiscoverX® in the San Francisco Bay Area spent the summer sorting heaps of castoff crayons to help hospitalized children. Their efforts resulted in thousands of fresh new colorful crayons for three local pediatric hospitals, and saved tons of non-biodegradable useless bits from landfills, via the US charity The Crayon Initiative. A colorful example of our company-wide activities that make a difference.
Drug-discovery labs within our California-based teams continue long-time commitments to residents in need through their local Adopt-a-Family programs to support struggling families, by bringing happier and healthier holiday seasons. As one of the organizers for the Bay Area-based office notes our employee generosity is near universal because of that personal touch, to know that families will get truly wanted gifts, from new shoes to warm bathrobes that fit.
Our Missouri team-members also personally put their backs into the task of community giving by “adopting” the highway near their St. Charles campus, and regularly clearing trash on their featured stretch of highway. A Eurofins-branded sign of pride displays their public-spirited efforts.

Our longtime mission to utilize our scientific innovation to protect human health includes our efforts to increase cyber safeguards. Information Technology (IT) is one of the catalysts behind Eurofins’ success, as it allows our laboratories to continuously enhance sample processing turn-around-time, it drives our cost efficiencies, and it enables us to share test results with clients in a secure, timely, and seamless manner.
We’ve invested in uplifting our IT to meet the challenges lurking ahead, such as the ever-growing threats of cyber-attacks and getting our infrastructure better prepared for the continued growth of demand for our services. To better secure ourselves, we have revamped security policies and ramped up security-relevant personnel across the board, and set up a strong security maturity improvement program, as well as a full-fledged 24/7 security operations center, bringing monitoring and resilience to our businesses, networks, systems and services.
The success of our investment and multi-year efforts has shown in positive results: Eurofins’ IT security score — which is an external audit of the network’s cybersecurity posture — has almost doubled in the last five years. This puts our risk of certain data breaches almost five times lower than it was years ago, owing to the hard work that our global and local IT teams have been doing to further improve the resilience of the Eurofins network.
