GPCR Radioligand Binding Services

GPCR Radioligand Binding Services

Determine intrinsic activity and affinity of a drug to a target receptor’s binding domain using Radioligand assays.

Radioligand binding is the gold standard method for detecting compound interaction with G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), allowing for the simplest interpretation of assay results. A favorite of medicinal chemists, radioligand displacement assays can be used for a simple “yes/no” interaction determination or to calculate a compound’s affinity for a receptor of interest. Combined with GPCR functional assays, ligand binding studies can provide a complete profile of a compound’s in vitro pharmacology.

Eurofins Discovery is the market leader for outsourced radioligand binding studies with over 30 years of expertise in robust GPCR binding assays. Our experience in the science of assays includes successful data delivery for tens-of-thousands of client compounds in screening campaigns as well as in running profiling assays for lead optimization, SAR, and safety studies.

Our binding assays use the gold-standard filtration method for the highest assay robustness. The majority of our assays are conducted with membrane preparations produced in-house to control for the quality of these critical reagents and ensure data reproducibility.

Eurofins Discovery also offers ligand binding assays based on mass spectrometry (MS). These label-free ligand binding assays are complementary to radioligand as they allow confirmation of direct binding of compounds to a molecular target while eliminating the risk of the label interfering with the binding event. MS-based ligand binding assays share all the advantages of sensitive, robust, and cost-effective radioligand binding assays and allow the monitoring of binding of test compounds to multiple targets simultaneously in a single well from complex biological matrices (e.g. tissue or cell extracts).
