In Vitro Micronucleus Assay

Eurofins Discovery offers key in vitro assays for genotoxicity screening. Micronucleus formation resulting from agents that cause chromosomal damage is a hallmark of genotoxicity. The in vitro micronucleus assay is a recommended regulatory test for genotoxicity that is capable of detecting the micronuclei formation resulting from clastogens (agents that induce chromosomal breaks mainly through interaction with the DNA) or aneugens (agents that induce chromosomal loss mainly through interference with the spindle apparatus).
 
Eurofins Discovery offers non-GLP, in vitro micronucleus screening in CHO-K1 (Chinese Hamster Ovarian) cells. Our micronucleus assays are conducted in a 96-well plate format using automated high content analysis to provide high-throughput, accurate detection and scoring of bi-nucleated CHO cells. We also provide metabolic activation as a component of the assay by using rat liver S9 fraction to determine if major metabolites generated have the potential to cause chromosome damage.
